The Somali National Army (SNA) has carried out an operation in Bal’ad district in Middle Shabelle region, destroying Al-Shabab militants’ hideouts.
The areas where the operation was carried out include God Doonfar, Halushin, Diidow, Bulo Dhagaxow, Bulo Mcalin, Durey and Banyaale in Balad district.
Commander Abdullahi Mustafe Ali Madale Qaran, who led the forces that carried out the operation, said the forces destroyed a number of al-Shabab extortion sites and a false courthouse where they harassed the community.
During the operation, the troops also arrested a militia leader and popular areas of operation in a reserve town of Middle Shabelle region.
Residents in the area welcomed the government troops, feeling the government’s sympathy after leading military officers in interviews with the local population.
These reports come in time Somalia has been receiving more and more military training abroad and new arrival of freshly trained and equipped troops from Turkey are coming back home.
