Fahad Yasin is the man who reformed the National Security and Intelligence Agency (NISA).
He made NISA a centerpiece of Somalia’s internal security, independent of politicians and free from foreign countries’ interference.
The ex-spymaster is the man everyone fears and respects as he was considered as the most powerful man after the president.
Due to his discipline and loyalty, he is one of President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo’s most trusted officials.
Mr. Yasin raised passions during this month and was the target of a smear campaign and other verbal attacks from opposition media and groups linked to the current prime minister.
President Farmajo accepted his resignation from NISA after the Prime Minister requested his removal from office.
Since he was appointed by President Farmajo in 2019, there have been a lot of speculations about his power and personality. Most of what was said about him were simply hostile or untrue.
While he made a lot of enemies during his time as NISA chief, the majority of the Somalis people commends him for making Somalia safer than what it was before his term.
