Banadir Region Imposed Drastic Rules To Contain Covid-19 Spread

Banadir Regional Administration has issued fines to people who do not use face masks to prevent COVID-19 Infection.

It was announced during an extraordinary meeting chaired by the Governor of Banadir Region and Mayor of Mogadishu, Mr. Omar Mohamud Mohamed Filish. The chair was briefed on the latest developments about COVID-19 and the progress of the awareness campaign in 17 districts.

The meeting lasted for several hours and it was agreed to introduce the wearing of face masks. Those who do not comply with this directive will be fined.

People in Banadir region are ordered to wear face masks every time they leave their homes. Anyone who does not wear them will be fined five dollars or will be taken to the nearest police station.

As for businesses, they will be subjected to a fine of up to $50 if they allow their customers to enter their premises without a mask.

The Banadir regional administration has instructed the security agencies to carry out the directives issued by the administration to combat the spread of COVID-19.
